Tom Delay, Not Convicted: Only Charged and Gone
The Republican Party does it again, "eats their own." There is joy in the Democratic Party headquarters in Texas as news House Majority Leader Tom Delay stepping aside reaches the bowels of the seat of Texas Democratic corruption. The charming Nancy Pelosi has already indicated "that a single person stepping down is not nearly enough to clean up the Republican Congress." Rumor has it that she is on the outs with her buddies and most likely will be replaced shortly. So listen to her get more and more extreme as she clings to a "swinging vine to hold on to her position."
The plea bargain of Jack Abramoff has sent shivers through the ranks of the Republican Party and to a lesser degree the Democratic side of the isle. The mission of the Democrats is to make it appear that the Republicans are the very essence of "corruption" and while they may have some of their party who will be involved in this upcoming scandal they are really the honorable party, not tainted by corruption. Time will tell on this score for sure. It appears the Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid may already been linked to Abramoff's money in ways that don't bode well for him. So Nancy and to some degree Dingy Harry are trying to get out in front of the curve doing damage control before the damage hits them right between the eyes. The Delay announcement is the lead article on the internet version of FoxNews.Com
The New York Times and the The Washington Times.
Time will tell how all this plays out. It will be interesting to watch the Republican Party as they try to get back on message. One thing is for sure they won't have an effective a leader as Tom Delay when they are all finished beating each other to a pulp.
