John McCain, Weak on Defense, Mark Levin, NRO
Mark Levin one of my favorites discusses the position that Senator John "Mr. MSM" McCain has taken on the issue of our defense. He discusses:

Others Who Agree with My Recommendation for House Majority Leader
FORGET MAJORITY LEADER, THIS GUY SHOULD BE PRESIDENT!
"I personally believe there is no place in the federal government for a Department of Education. It is not in the Constitution. There is no mention anywhere in the Constitution that the federal government has any role in education. I believe that the federal government doesn't have a role in education.
"I have several members of my family, including my wife, who are teachers, who are not at all happy with the so-called No Child Left Behind bill, which I think has gone far astray from what it was even intended to do. And I would like to hope that at some point we could get the federal government out of the business of education altogether, and acknowledge that this is policy that should be decided at the state level.
"...The National Endowment for the Arts...still does not have a legitimate government purpose. It still should not exist as a federally funded function..."
- Rep. John Shadegg, Arizona Republican and candidate to replace Tom DeLay as House Majority Leader, Human Events, 1/23/06
REPUBLICANS AT A CROSSROAD
"Electing John Shadegg (R-Arizona) majority leader would send voters the clearest possible signal that excessive spending and sleazy ethics are not the hallmarks of congressional Republicans. With their congressional majorities potentially at risk, Republicans must decide which face they want to present the voters - business as usual or real reform."
- San Diego Union-Tribune editorial
ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH ON SHADEGG
"Of the three contenders (for House Majority Leader), only Arizona's John Shadegg (R-Arizona) offers the dedication to principle and commitment to reform that could get his wayward party - and Congress - back on track."
- Rocky Mountain News editorial
SHADEGG-MANIA RUNNIN' WILD
"Whatever the outcome of Rep. John Shadegg's bid to become House majority leader on Feb. 2 when the 231 House Republicans meet in private to pick a successor to Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas, he certainly has raised his national profile.
"Since Shadegg announced Jan. 13 that he was a reform candidate for the post, the Arizona Republican, previously little known outside his home state, has grabbed the endorsements of national periodicals such as National Review and Human Events magazine.
"Shadegg also has been racking up a list of newspaper endorsements that go well beyond his hometown Arizona Republic. As of Friday, he'd gotten the backing of the Dallas Morning News, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the New London (Conn.) Day, the Indianapolis Star, and Denver's Rocky Mountain News."

How True This Is
FALLING DOWN
"Republicans promised the American people two things in 1994. First, we promised to rein in the size and scope of the federal government. Second, we promised to clean up Washington. In recent years, we have fallen short on both counts."

Want to Keep the House, Go Conservative
The Opinion Journal from the Wall Street Journal highlights the need for House Republicans to support Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona for House Majority Leader. Their message is clear and to the point. If the Republicans wish to keep the House of Representatives they need to return to their grassroots, the conservative philosophy that brought them to the majority. They need to pick up the mentality of Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey who lead the take over of the house in 1994, how sweet it was and how far we have moved from the vision, reduced taxes and smaller government. Now we know that this message doesn't come as regular faire from the White House, but the cry needs to again rise from the Halls of Congress. The Panic Over Iraq
While reading today posts on Power Line I read the tribute to Milton Himmelfarb referencing the articles he had published in Commentary. Taking the link to Commentary I found an article dated January 2006, The Panic Over Iraq by Norman Podhoretz. This article is the best discussion of our Iraq policy and those who oppose the war. The article is long and will take well over one half hour to read but it is well worth the time and at the end of the read you will have a much better understanding of the Iraq situation both in Iraq and here in the USA.
I hope you can find the time to read Mr. Podhoretz's article. It is well worth the time!

Tom Delay, Not Convicted: Only Charged and Gone
The Republican Party does it again, "eats their own." There is joy in the Democratic Party headquarters in Texas as news House Majority Leader Tom Delay stepping aside reaches the bowels of the seat of Texas Democratic corruption. The charming Nancy Pelosi has already indicated "that a single person stepping down is not nearly enough to clean up the Republican Congress." Rumor has it that she is on the outs with her buddies and most likely will be replaced shortly. So listen to her get more and more extreme as she clings to a "swinging vine to hold on to her position."
The plea bargain of Jack Abramoff has sent shivers through the ranks of the Republican Party and to a lesser degree the Democratic side of the isle. The mission of the Democrats is to make it appear that the Republicans are the very essence of "corruption" and while they may have some of their party who will be involved in this upcoming scandal they are really the honorable party, not tainted by corruption. Time will tell on this score for sure. It appears the Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid may already been linked to Abramoff's money in ways that don't bode well for him. So Nancy and to some degree Dingy Harry are trying to get out in front of the curve doing damage control before the damage hits them right between the eyes. The Delay announcement is the lead article on the internet version of FoxNews.Com
The New York Times and the The Washington Times.
Time will tell how all this plays out. It will be interesting to watch the Republican Party as they try to get back on message. One thing is for sure they won't have an effective a leader as Tom Delay when they are all finished beating each other to a pulp.

A Story I Never Saw
This is from RedState
and was posted by John on Power Line. I brought the entire post forward.
If you're a regular reader of Turkish Press
or Geo in Pakistan
in Pakistan, you already know that on December 23,
Three Algerians arrested in an anti-terrorist operation in southern Italy are suspected of being linked to a planned new series of attacks in the United States, Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu said Friday.
The attacks would have targeted ships, stadiums or railway stations in a bid to outdo the September 11, 2001 strikes by Al-Qaeda in New York and Washington which killed some 2,700 people, Pisanu said.
But if you have been relying on the U.S. media to warn you about things like this, you haven't heard anything about it.
The blockbuster article by Steve Hayes linked to below notes that many of the terrorists who trained in Saddam's camps in Iraq prior to 2003 were from North Africa. It would be interesting to know whether some of the Algerians who were plotting to "outdo the September 11, 2001 strikes" were trained by the Iraqi army. It would also be interesting to know whether NSA intercepts played a role in catching these terrorists. (Link for Steve Hayes article, click here)
Michelle Malkin in her blog also refers to the Steve Hayes article in the Weekly Standard, to see her article, click here.

Patriot Files
A friend of mine Brian Wilson sent me a link to Patriot Files Annex.Org. This web site hosts a series of positive movies about the USA.
You will need Macromedia’s free Flash Player to view these movies. I found the messages from General Patton and My Heroes Have Been Cowboys particularly good.
Brian is the radio talk show host Brian Wilson, visit his web site and catch up on his latest activities. Brian is now on 1370 WSPD daily and available for listening on the internet.
